What was the brief for the event?

Glasgow Clyde College were looking for a solution to broadcast the graduation of twelve of their schools split into three ceremonies. Forumm were asked to provide a platform and broadcast to facilitate this.

What were the biggest challenges for G.C.C.?

The world of higher education and graduations have struggled over lockdown and covid. Many educational bodies had a backlog of graduates who hadn’t been able to attend a graduation. Due to this, many former students have moved location and would have found it difficult to attend in person.

Due to being a graduation, GCC were looking to provide former students with as fantastic an experience as possible without bringing any of the drawbacks from being sat behind a computer.

How did Forumm solve those challenges?

Forumm allowed those former students to sign on to the platform remotely, from any location, and watch themselves graduate. Being online, this also allowed students to have more family members than at a physical graduation.

To bridge the gap between online and physical, GCC provided students with the opportunity to purchase gown hire and photographs at their Langside campus in the week prior to the graduation itself. Forumm helped facilitate this by creating a new ‘announcements’ section within our splash page which allows GCC to communicate updates directly with students.

What did Forumm add that made the event unique?

Customisation of our breakout rooms were key. We tabbed off the breakout room area into the three ceremonies, with separate rooms for each of the schools that were graduating. This allowed students to join the room once their ceremony was over and give a final goodbye to their fellow classmates and lecturers.
